FarmAfield is a marketplace for production contracts, agreements between you and a producer. In short, you pay a producer to acquire, manage, and sell your cattle. We are simply the broker between you and a producer.
We pre-screen our producers to make sure they are real, trustworthy, and efficient. From there, you can choose among open pens that are available at any given time from among those pre-screened producers. If you know another reputable producer not currently partnering with us, contact us at email@example.com so we can get in touch.
Depending on the number of openings with our pre-screened producers, FarmAfield allows you to partner at any amount.
Once you sign up for an account, we will guide you through three simple steps to link a credit card or bank account.
Each timeline will vary based on the particular pen(s) you have selected. Typically this process takes around 6-8 months, but more precise estimates will be given before the time of investment.
Once your cattle have finished their production cycle, they are sold and you receive the proceeds.
Once you sign up for an account, we will guide you through three simple steps to link your bank account. Contact us if you are interested in alternative forms of payment.
FarmAfield has worked with the online payment processor Stripe to ensure payment security.
FarmAfield charges a brokerage fee based on your cattle purchase amount. Payment processing fees depend on your chosen form of payment.
Any feedlot we partner with has agreed to provide periodic updates that cover expenses incurred, feed/rations, health, etc.
The producers we work with are experts in their field and provide management recommendations based on years of experience. For the average user, all that is needed is to approve the management plan at the time of investment. Please contact us if you have alternate requests not included in the specific management plan, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
FarmAfield currently requires a commitment for the entirety of the cycle but we’re working on allowing transfers and withdrawals at any time during the process.
Cattle markets are volatile and always changing and cattle openings are available year-round. We recommend spreading your investment throughout the year rather than trying to predict the seasonality of different markets, but the choice is yours.
